COWICHAN VALLEY SCHOOLS HERITAGE SOCIETY
You are invited to our Annual General Meeting Tuesday, October 6, 2026, 2 pm Heritage School House, 10825 Edgelow Rd., Ladysmith, B.C.
- Everyone is welcome to attend. Bring a friend.
- Voting at the AGM is reserved for members.
- Membership is free so sign up at the AGM.
- Consider filling one of our current Director vacancies at our Annual General Meeting.
- We are seeking volunteers for President, Vice-President, Secretary. Treasurer and other positions for our Cowichan Valley Schools Heritage Society.
We need enthusiastic volunteer directors and helpers to support a range of museum activities and enable the Heritage one-room School House Museum to flourish and become a meaningful community place for families, schools, clubs and Societies to enjoy culture, heritage, educational, environmental and social activities.
One-room Heritage School Museum Volunteers
- Greet visitors and communicate with them about the collection, the history of the Cowichan Valley Schools Heritage Society and the future children’s toy and book display.
- Help with the various collection displays.
- Assist with field trip activities and events for visitors of all ages.
- Keep the public CVSHS website up to date and welcoming.
Museum and display volunteering is on site in the one-room school house museum and new display building. Training will be provided. No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm to learn. Museum Archive Volunteers
We are interested to hear from any potential volunteers who have one or more of the following:
- An interest in school history and oral history
- An interest in cataloguing collections
- An interest in writing for our website
- A special interest in of one of the following subjects:
- School memorabilia, textbooks, and story books
- Children’s toy trains, vehicles or boats
- Puppets and performance
- Toys, games and childhood history from Vancouver Island.
Archive volunteering takes place primarily in the one-room Heritage School House.
If you are interested in running workshops related to the museum collection for any audience in our new building’s workshop space, please get in touch to discuss further.

Background Information
Cowichan Valley Schools Heritage Society is a registered society in British Columbia, Canada.
The Heritage Village School House officially opened - September 15, 2024.
The purpose of the Cowichan Valley Schools Heritage Society (CVSHS) is to: actively collect and preserve historical education documents, photos, and artifacts related to C.V. & district schools, and to have an educational program that shares activities, the history of past school days and childhood experiences.
